Fairview Heights offers attractions for all members of the family. Shopping and great eating is available along with parks in Fairview Heights. A Metrorail trip will bring you to the many attractions available in the St. Louis area.

During the baseball season, express buses make stops in Fairview Heights, taking residents to St. Louis Cardinals baseball games, St. Louis Rams football, Blues hockey and to such sites as the Muny Opera and Six Flags Over America theme park.

  • Our Lady of the Snows Shrine: This 200 acre setting is the largest in the country.  During the six weeks before Christmas, almost 400,000 people visit the shrine to see the spectacular "Way of Lights".  There is a gift shop and a motel, an apartment community for seniors and a very good restaurant.

  • Cahokia Mounds Museum: Cahokia is a 2000 acre site where  the Mississippian indian culture thrived for over 1,000 years.

  • Professional Sports

  • Craft Fairs...There are many of these, with some of the largest at the Belleville Fairgrounds.

  • Held every August in Fairview Heights, this nationally-recognized art fair features over 100 exciting artists competing for prizes and selling their creations from painting to photography, to sculpture, glass and jewelry.

  • The Great River Road Country: A national treasure.  Running alongside the Mississippi to the west and the great limestone bluffs to the east is more than a pleasant Sunday drive in the country. The area, north from Alton to Grafton and Elsah, is full of historical significance and natural beauty.

    • International Bowling Museum and St. Louis Cardinals Hall of Fame ... The Bowling Museum traces 5,000 years of bowling history from ancient Egypt to modern ten pins. And the Cardinals Hall of Fame features more than 100 years of St. Louis Baseball history and memorabilia.
    • The Missouri Botanical Garden features the largest traditional Japanese garden in North America, the Kemper Center for Home Gardening, the Climatron rain forest, a Chinese Garden and more.
    • Old Courthouse 11 N. 4th St. The scene of the Dred Scott trial, the Old Courthouse Galleries depict the history of St. Louis.
    • St. Louis Art Museum. Once the Fine Arts Palace of the 1904 World's Fair, today the Museum is among the leading art museums in the country.
    • Anheuser-Busch Brewery ... Tours of Anheuser-Busch include the historic Brewhouse, Budweiser Clydesdale stables, lager cellar, packaging plant, hospitality room and Bud World gift shop.
    • St. Louis Science Center Explore more than 600 free exhibits.
    • Mid-America Airport in 1998 opened at Scott Air Force Base, minutes east of neighboring O'Fallon, Illinois, offering travel to various locations in the USA. In 2001, the Bi-State Transit District's Metro Link began operations, providing commuter service from Fairview Heights to Lambert St. Louis International Airport and to Scott Air Force Base.
